9/6/23 Update: Added new firmware options - Choose MiSTer (standard 3 individual inputs), Analogue Pocket Dock (XInput where all 3 controllers are a single input), or Nintendo Switch (Switch compatible where all 3 controllers are a single input) firmware versions*

Use original NES, SNES, and Genesis controllers with USB (via Arduino Pro Micro) for authentic Classic Gaming! Works great with Raspberry Pi / Retro Pi, MiSTer, Analogue Pocket Dock, Nintendo Switch and PC/Mac based systems.

Software based on MickGyver's Retro Controller project.

3D Case files for USB-C and MicroUSB versions were designed by Dinierto Designs and are available on Thingiverse.

All Triple Controller software and PCB are open source and available on GitHub.. You can switch firmware version on your unit by loading new code via the Arduino IDE.

Fully Assembled Kits - choose a firmware option:

MiSTer FPGA Optimized

All 3 inputs act as individual controllers (use all 3 inputs at the same time)
Compatible with MiSTer & PC
Will not report as a valid controller on Analogue Pocket Dock

Analogue Pocket Optimized

All 3 inputs are combined into a single player (use one input at time)
Reports as an XInput device
Optimized for Analogue Pocket Dock, but still compatible with MiSTer & PC
"Home" Button is supported on each controller type to bring up the Analogue Dock menu:
NES: Select + Down
SNES: Select + Down
Genesis: Mode + Down (or 8BitDo M30 'Heart' button)

Nintendo Switch Optimized

Reports as an Nintendo Switch controller

Perfect low latency retro controller adapter!

Excellent, low latency controller adapter that worked plug and play out of the box on PC and MiSTer. Build quality was great, and shipping was very fast.

This is a steal at the current price!

Pros:
I beat Mike Tyson's Punch Out using a Mister, 12ms LCD display, OEM NES Controller, and this adapter. In my opinion there is no better test for lag. So Yay!
Super Easy to Assemble and 3d print (I purchased the DIY Kit)
Quality of the board is great.
Communication with the seller was outstanding.

Cons:
Not the sellers fault but the NES Port in my opinion is garbage and I had to fiddle with a couple NES-004 I had that just didn't want to make a good connection.
Step by Step instructions would be great but really not that hard to figure out.

Your DIY, one-stop-shop for OEM controller goodness!

What an awesome kit!!!

I just started diving into the MiSTer ecosystem last week and, after turning it on for the first time (while gawking over how much it could do), I knew that "tackling the controller situation" would definitely be "Step One". Given that the SNAC functionality was a bit of a finicky lift for two-player situations, I sought out a USB solution that would afford ANY player the lowest latency/lag possible. This led me down the DaemonBite YouTube rabbit-hole and, with a bit more digging, I found a video outlining the assembly, flashing, and testing of this kit.

We're talking five stars across the board for this one! The included parts and PCB are high-quality. The code is easy to flash. The 3D-printable cases fit around the innards perfectly (provided you're a DIYer like me and went the extra mile to print them out at home!). Just exemplary work...

Now, onto how you SHOULDN'T do what I did: I was so green regarding the MiSTer's, just, BASIC FUNCTIONALITY that I didn't understand how to initialize a controller... I thought I read that MiSTer's main menu basically defaults to the SNES button layout, so I naively assumed that ANY controller you'd eventually plug into the USB hub would just automatically work with the same mappings. I'll spare anyone reading this my debugging process by saying this: When you plug this amazing device in for the first time, grab a controller that HAS been initialized and navigate to System Settings > Define Joystick Buttons. Now grab the controller that's connected to this device and define the button map.

Whew!

It's been smooth sailing once I figured out how to use the dang MiSTer and, as an added bonus, you don't have to remap any buttons when switching between NES/SNES and Genesis cores!

Wonderful addition for a MiSTer

The Triple Controller adapter is the perfect complement for a MiSTer setup. Having the original controllers is something that's difficult to replicate with 3rd party controllers.

The adapter works beautifully and adds zero extra lag,

This is the hero adapter your MiSTer deserves (and needs)

I've been searching for a combo adapter for a long time and this ticks all the boxes. Buying individual adapters really adds up so this represents great value. I went for the assembled USB-C version and it works wonderfully on MiSTer - plug and play, no noticeable input lag, 3D case is solidly built and overall it's very high quality. Timville has put together an amazing product and was so helpful with my questions. Arrived to the UK very quickly. Highly recommended!

Awesome project and value

This was a really well-made and designed product. I'm using the triple controller to play arcade and 16-bit games on my PC. Also, I can't notice any input delay when using the controller and all three controllers show up as separate devices which is cool. Not sure if you can use multiple ports at once though. Lastly, this is such a great value other competing devices cost 2-3x this price and only allow one controller type to be used.

Here are a few tips I think could be helpful. I'm using an Arduino pro micro clone from AliExpress and found that the Sparkfun Arduino 5v pro micro drivers work great with the clone. I also tested the controller using gamepad-tester.com and it shows that down and right are being pressed. I thought something was broken or I had done something wrong but it actually works fine, not sure why the gamepad-tester is giving those readings.

A Great product

The kit was shipped to me in the UK very fast. It performs perfectly and now I have the ability to use a SNES , NES and Atari style Joystick on both my PC and Mister.
