What is it?

Interface board to connect external Full H Bridge IBT-2 board to provide up to 5 Amps track power to model railroads (IBT-2 module not included). Can be easily controlled using the DCC EX system and be used instead of a standard Arduino motorshield with much less output current. Current measuring and short circuit protection is provided by DCC EX. The IBT-2 module is connected using an 8 wire ribbon cable. DCC feedback to the board is connected using a plug. Max. track voltage is 25V

Why did you make it?

Most model railroaders are looking for about 5 Amps. of track current. Standard Arduino motorshields are limited to 2 Amps. Popular IBT-2 modules are relatively difficult to connect to the Arduino and current measurement requires additional circuitry. This board provides all necessary interface hardware and makes it easy to use a standard IBT-2 module

What makes it special?

This PowerShield allows 5 Amps. using the same Arduino shield form factor. The IBT-2 module is connected using a ribbon cable instead of a bunch of jumper wires.
