Due to an error in the PCB, one set of the D+ and D- pins are not connected. When using a USB-C cable, if you do not see the CH340C, please reverse the connector.

What is it?

This is a USB-to-serial converter based on the CH340C. It features an USB-C connector (with the proper 5.1kOhm resistors and configured for USB 2.0) and a FTDI compatible connector. The signals are broken out into a 2x6 connector, making it easier to connect a device to it and probe the signals!

There is a jumper (J2) connector which allows for 3.3V or 5V logic. PLEASE make this connection before connecting this board to a PC. We have a very large LDO, so that the 3.3V rail power a lot of external circuitry. Most USB-to-Serial connectors have smaller size LDO but you can easily pull 500mA (or more depending on the cooling) from this LDO!

Soldering is required for this module. The header pins will come with the board and will need to be soldered.

The board has 4 x M3 mounting holes for standoffs or screws.

Why did you make it?

I wanted a USB-to-Serial converter with a large LDO so I can power a MCU and sensor modules without worrying about overloading the LDO. Also, I wanted to be easily change between 3.3V and 5V logic.
