The USB-Crowbar is a drop-in replacement for USB Type B full-size connectors, having as close to the same footprint as I could make it. There's a slight taper for cases that might have used shorter/slightly thinner USB connectors.
When a DJ friend of mine lamented that her older Novation Launchpad was the last thing on her DJ set that used USB-B, and that she always had to find a powered USB hub for it, I promptly stuck my foot in my mouth and said "This should be easy!"
Dear reader: It was... Not as easy as I thought it would be.
Q: Micro-B? Mini-B?
A: Not likely. There's not quite enough space to fit a USB-C connector into the physical space that a Mini or Micro-B connector takes up in terms of overall board real estate. However, for some products, the USB connector is on a separate board that can be remade and replaced with a USB Type C connector.
A: Probably not. There's a lot of logic that goes into making USB3 type C work such as orientation detection.
