The ProtoDev – 18 V1.0; is aimed specifically at Embedded Developers who want to explore and develop solutions using 18 PIN 8 BIT devices. The 16F | 18F devices with their 8 BIT architecture offer a number of advantages in terms of ease of use and simplicity. The ProtoDev – 18 series enables both the hobbyist and professional to develop a reliable and effective solution using a reliable and effective platform.

The ProtoDev - 18 is a compact and feature rich development PCB and supports most devices in the 16F | 18 F, 18 PIN packages.

The ProtoDev – 18 offers a cost effective, practical solution to PIC embedded development. Delivered fully assembled the PCB has a 5Vdc power supply, RS 3232 driver for communications, ICSP, Reset button, 3 Push Button switches, 3 LEDs and a watch crystal for additional timing applications. A prototyping area with horizontally connected pads makes for easy proof of concept design and development with additional devices e.g. LCD display or compatible temperature sensor. The PCB can be powered from a standard wall socket AC to DC converter power supply that has a 5Vdc output.

The hosted device can be programmed using an ICSP compatible programmer. Communications to a PC is simple and easy using the MAX3232 and D Type 9 PIN connector.

The adjacent prototyping (like strip board) area enables the developer to solder in additional components and devices. All PIC I/O is tracked to the connector strip and labelled, which is located conveniently close to the prototyping are
