Came VERY fast & well packaged. Included all parts & the boards were self explanatory. 10 minutes of soldering & we're ready to test it! I have yet to recover board, only because my uno and mega akd etc pins don't line up exactly (boards use two header boards w/ space, the recovery board has one nice row) -- just needed to some jumper wires in and should work (Haven't sorted the bad from teh good yet) I opted for the usb-power -- it called for a hard junction between the two, I opted for a bit of wire instead, because I know things get bumped on a small workspace...
It'll pay for itself, especially if you brick your last attiny and need it 'now'... Really like the kit; great work.
The shield is compatible with the genuine Uno (the Arduino in the photo is a generic and has a few more pins). Just make sure the pins marked 8 and 12 line up (the left 2 pins are unused and will not be connected).
While an add-on item was missed from the original shipment, the seller has more than made up for it by shipping it out the next day and included a small battery as a goodwill gesture. That was unexpected and appreciated.
This is a good tool to have handy if you will be working with the ATtiny. You never know when you might accidentally brick a chip, especially if you will be changing the fuse settings. This lets you save the chip. The code that came with the product worked with no changes required. I had to knock a star off since mine arrived without the resistors. Luckily I had some handy to use to complete the build.
I pack the kits to order and sure enough your resistors were hiding out in my parts tray. Sorry about that! I'm glad you had some handy, otherwise I would've been happy to send replacements. Thanks for the review.
The product is great - and not particularly complicated to figure out. That said, I still would like to see more documentation on it. In particular, I was looking to see if I could program an ATTiny85 using this and the Arduino ISP but didn't find much that was helpful.
I'm glad to hear that you like the board. After installing the tiny core (linked in the product description) you can program the ATtiny85 using the Arduino IDE and Arduino as ISP (or any other programmer). PM me if you'd like to discuss further.
