If you want to make really intense, professional sounding patches you aboslutely need a voltage source / offset generator thing. They become the "macro knobs" of your setup and are useful for many things but in my opinion, they glue all your sounds together. If you can send those voltages out to multiple sources then you can control multiple parameters with one sweep. If you combine this with a mult and an attenuator, you are golden.
So this is a great module for just that. I haven't used it as a mixer or attenuator yet, only played around with my vco cv control and its really great. I somehow got the idea in my head that I couldn't live without the +10 and -10 offset capabilities. Never found a place to buy a voltage reference to do that but boy am I glad I went with +5 -5, its way more than enough. I can push my VCO far beyond the limits of auditory perception with the default +5/-5v build. Easy to find the v reference for that too, I got mine from Ali Express.
It looks great too, better than in the pictures, once you have it mounted in a rack, it really holds its own, its black and serious. All the important stuff is already pre-soldered on there for you so it would be a difficult build to screw up. Only thing is be careful with the voltage reference, the legs of this component are always quite close and in order to avoid a solder bridge I simply started with the outside legs first, then clipped the leads and left the middle for last. With the leads out of the way on either side and the middle legs exposed I was able to solder all three without a single bridge the first try.
Feels nice too, the sliders were a good idea although they aren't the easiest to come by. I couldn't find the right ones anywhere other than the recommended German pedal parts e shop recommended by the seller. But they're worth the money and the patience. They feel solid, well maid and extremely strong. Pushing it back and fourth you really feel the physicality and friction of the heavy mechanical things inside. Same with the switches, who doesn't love flipping switches? these are no different from any other metal switch. Could flip switches all day if I had too. Love me some switches.
Cheers and thanks again for sharing the build and pcbs.
