The PixelWing Matrix is a powerful ESP32-S2 RGB Matrix Display board that allows you to make a simple connected display, data logger, or environmental indicator. The PixelWing features USB-C power, a 5x10 RGB Matrix Display using SK6812mini Addressable LEDs that are compatible with Adafruit NEOPIXEL Libraries!
In addition to this, the PixelWing provides a quick access I2C JST connector that is compatible with Qwiic and Stemma QT connectors allowing you to connect all your favorite Adafruit and Sparkfun sensor breakouts.
All of this is combined with Circuit Python support making it easy to get programming on your project.
This board was made because all the other RGB matrix have to be hooked up to an external microcontroller which can sometimes be frustrating. This board combines a 1:2 RGB matrix with a powerful and popular WiFi module from Espressif, the ESP32-S2. With additional support for I2C via a JST connector, this board provides and fun and unique addition to your project.
The PixelWing combines RGB matrix and a powerful WiFi enabled microcontroller which takes the guess work out of connecting an external display to a microcontroller. The smaller form factor make this attractive for places where larger RGB matrices might not fit.
Due to the led density of this board and the solder used, it is unadvised to use the LEDs higher than 50% brightness. Higher brightness without proper heat sinking can lead to high heat dissipation, potentially desoldering components, and creating a fire hazard. We will not replace boards damaged by operating LEDs higher than 50% brightness.
