So I can use test clips to hijack 5V from any USB port and STILL be able to charge using that USB port!

Obviously current is an issue, and the spec of what is providing the USB power should be taken into consideration. This breakout was originally designed to have two female USB jacks and powered by a battery pack, but the male USB was soldered instead using solder bridges on the shield to provide more than enough stability/rigidness to plug and unplug as many times as needed.
