A logic pen shows zeros and ones. That one shows also floating signals and 100 ns glitches. The HCmos circuitry includes 2 one-shots to enlarge also high frequency signals.
Good if you have a logic analyser. It is static. The logic pen moves around to find the bad connections, notice the too quiet or too active signals. It can also stay in place and replace the missing led.
The Didel Logic Pen works form 2.5 to 5.5V and has 3 leds to show the states. It is using Cmos logic, does not charge the tested signals (200 kOhm input resistance, 5pF capacitance). Power need for the leds is below 5 mA. A protection diode is here in case of bad power connection.
