We are currently out of stock on this item. We are working on a new, updated version of the POV kit - with better switch, easier wire routing, and more - and expect to have it in stock by early March.
Note: effective Feb 26, 2021, we use black soldermask for POV shield boards, as shown in the cover photo. Some of the other photos show older green boards.
Note: ItsyBitsy is not included by default - if you need it, choose the option Add kit of parts (with ItsyBitsy M4).
Board size is 2.0x0.7 inch, or approximately 51*21 mm. When soldered together with the ItsyBitsy as shown in the photos, the whole assembly can fit inside 7/8 inch inner diameter tube, such as the tubes used by flowtoys.com.
Note: when soldering to ItsyBitsy, the shield board should be placed under the ItsyBitsy so that components of the shield board are on the outside of the assembly, not between the boards.
The board provides the following features:
Board was designed using EasyEDA online designer; the project is publicly available at https://easyeda.com/shurik179/povtrinket. The schematics file can also be found in
hardware directory of the github project below. Some notable points:
MPU6050 is connected to I2C pins of the Itsy Bitsy; the shield also provides pullups on I2C lines
MPU6050 is configured to use I2C address 0x69
battery connection can be used both for powering the ItsyBitsy (when USB is not connected) and for charging the battery (when USB is connected)
the voltage divider consists of two equal value resistors; thus, voltage measured on pin A1 is exactly half of the voltage at VHI pin.
The software for the POV staff using the board can be found in
code folder of the github repository. It should be easy to modify it for other projects.

If you intend to use this board for the POV staff as described in the instructables project, choose "Add kit of parts" option. This will add the following:
(optional - only included if you choose Add kit of parts (with ItsyBitsy M4)) ItsyBitsy M4 microcontroller, preprogrammed with the POV staff software and with a test image preloaded.
two custom power distribution boards
110 cm of 8mm black shrink wrap tubing
two PVC end caps for the staff tube
black tennis overgrip tape, to cover the middle of the staff
three JST XH 4pin connectors (two with 15cm wire leads, one with 55cm leads)
bundle of black zipties (2mm wide)
This is not full kit for the project - in addition, you would need the following components which are not included, so you will need to buy them separately:
141 cm polycarbonate tube
two 18650 Li-Ion batteries
0.1" male headers
3d printed spacers and switch holder
