The GW-SMBRAM-2 is a replacement for the four SEMI4804 static RAMs found on TDL SMBs, a S-100 board from the 1970s. The SEMI4804 was in short supply even when the TDL SMB was new (TDL had their own replacement board). Nowadays, the SEMI4804 is all but unobtainable. The GW-SMBRAM-2 replaces all four SEMI4804s with a single modern, reliable, low-power 6116 type static RAM in a 300 mil package.

The GW-SMBRAM-2 is slightly larger than the RAM socket area on the TDL SMB and does not interfere with any of the surrounding components. It uses Aries 18-600-20 DIP headers with coined (flat stamped) terminals, so that insertion does not destroy original sockets on your TDL SMB. Unlike the original TDL replacement board, the GW-SMBRAM-2 does not require a flying lead for power: the use of modern low-power SRAM allows it to run from only the power supplied from the existing RAM sockets.
