This is an highly integrated Smart EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) or EV charger that complies to IEC61851 (Mode 3). It contains all you need to make a charger: just connect to mains and a charging cable (or type-2 socket) and you can charge. No extra components are needed (it even has an integrated KWh meter). It is jumper selectable 3x16A / 11kW (no jumper) or 3x32A / 22kW (jumper installed). It will work as a single phase charger if just 1 phase (L1) is connected. It can also work as a single phase charger if 3 phases are connected (configured as such per ModBus): this can be useful e.g. to charge on maximum solar power. (connect your solar panels to L1 and you can charge starting from 6Ax230V=1380W solar)
But there is more: The EVSE is a ModBus/RS485-RTU device. This way you can read all kinds of information (e.g. read state of the vehicle, KWh charged, temperature and detailed information such as pilot levels, supply voltage levels, charging current) and control the device (e.g. set maximum current). Perfect for integration with your home domotica system or remote control (IoT).
This board is conformal coated and can be used outside (in proper housing). It will come with installation instructions, jumper (to select 3x32A) and ModBus register list with example code as well as STL-file for 3D-printing mounting brackets.
This design is extensively tested on the Netherlands. It requires at least a single phase connection (Neutral, Live/L1 and Protective Earth) to the grid. Proper PE is required (basically very low ohmage between PE and N). In the Netherlands we have 230Vac but other voltages should work also (power supply is rated 85-305Vac).
We have a number of refurbished devices. These had some issue which is resolved and they are rigorously tested. They may show some soldering/testing markings.
We are first hour EV drivers and saw the need of a simple-to-install and programmable charger. That is why we made this EVSE.
The device is highly integrated and very easy to install. No need for separate relays, DC-supply, KWh meter.
Any EV charger is connected to mains power (230Vac) and passes high currents (up to 3x32A). Only try to install these yourself if you know what you are doing!
