RC2014 is a simple 8 bit Z80 based modular computer. It is inspired by the home built computers of the late 70s and computer revolution of the early 80s. It is not a clone of anything specific, but there are suggestions of the ZX81, UK101, S100, Superboard II and Apple I in here. It nominally has 8K ROM, 32K RAM, runs at 7.3728MHz and communicates over serial at 115,200 baud. As a bare minimum, you will need a CPU, ROM, RAM, Clock and Input/Output module. The RC2014 is designed in such a way that you can build your own modules to expand it. As such, if you have access to similar components, or have specific needs, you might not need all the items I have on offer.
This is the RAM module which is supplied with the RC2014 Pro or RC2014 CP/M Upgrade Kit, although it can also be used as a replacement for the CPU module supplied with the RC2014 Classic ][, or if you are building your own custom RC2014 variant. It can be used with Standard Bus backplanes (Backplane 5 or Backplane 8) with single row header pins, or with Enhanced Bus backplanes (Backplane Pro) with double row header pins. If the Standard Bus option is chosen, then a 10 pin straight header is also supplied in case you need access to the /PAGE signals.
This listing is for a kit of parts to build the 64k RAM module only. For the rest of the modules, see my other products.
This module allows up to 64k of RAM to be used (The full addressable range of the Z80 CPU). To avoid overlapping with ROM, the start address (and therefore usable size) can be set via jumpers. So, for example, if you are using the MS BASIC ROM that ships with the RC2014, set the jumpers for the RAM to start at 0x2000 (8k) which will give you 56k of RAM.
In order to run CP/M, the lower 32k RAM can be enabled or disabled via a page pin driven by the Pageable ROM Module.
This module can be supplied as a 32k kit, in which case it will work exactly as the 32k RAM Module supplied with the RC2014 Classic ][ kit does. However, you can then use the RAM supplied with that kit to expand this one to the full 64k if required. (Additional IC sockets and jumpers/pins will be needed)
Full Kit - This includes all the components to build up the 64k RAM module including header pins, chip sockets, logic chips and 64k RAM.
32k Kit - As above, but with components to build the module with only 32k RAM
PCB Only - Yup, you guessed it. Only the bare PCB!
All components are new.
