Can anyone tell me if I need to bodge a wire beteeen c32 and r88? It looks like trace might be missing on my board.

Pretty Awesome Board - Great Project

For "SixtyClone" Commodore 64 Replica PCBs

This was quite a fun build. I had recently completed two other builds from another company, I enjoyed those also. I went all out on this project. I purchased a new PLA, 2 J-CPAs, a new J-CPU, a VIC II Kawari small board, new ROM chips from DIYChris, I initially tested with a Shuriken RF Modulator, but I have one coming from RetroChannel, RFOFF, I want the S-Video and sound jacks. Still coming, I have a SRAM replacement for my RAM chips from CBMretro. Last but not least I have an ARMSid coming too. I would have liked to find the Retro8BITshop a little sooner. I would have ordered a few things from there. Basically, EVERYTHING is new, with the exception of the three round ports. I'm going to build a custom case to house this beauty in, with a clear top so people can see it. Now I need to find a new hobby since I spent way too much on this one, but I don't regret it.

This is an excellent PCB — my A3000 is up and running again!

First of all, this is an amazing product — but...

I bought all the components using the linked BOM and was only getting a red screen on power-up. After some investigation, I came across an interesting discussion on stardot.org.uk, where it was pointed out that some components listed in the BOM might be incorrect.

Specifically:

IC28 was listed as 74LS139,
IC42 and IC45 as 74HC573,
IC35 as 74LS06.

Someone in the discussion suggested that the correct parts should be:

IC28: 74HC139,
IC42 and IC45: 74HCT573,
IC35: 7406 (standard, not LS variant).

I checked my original, factory-assembled board — the one that had stopped working — and confirmed that it actually used the components mentioned in the discussion. So I desoldered these four chips from the old board and installed them in the new one, and everything started working perfectly.

Most likely, the main issue was IC28 — it's the RAM demultiplexer that switches control lines between internal and extended memory, and it needs to be fast enough.

Purchased in March 2024, (I've had a slow pace to get the components and assemble everything). It worked well, on the first try, no modification required, there was no problem. The components are well described. An unique piece. Congratulations for the good work!!!
