I ordered 2 cases (red and black - binary search tree or Stendhal novel) for the RPi4 and they arrived in good time via regular airmail (given the COVID19 lockdown and everything else). The cases are stunning ! They're meticulously designed and everything falls into place perfectly. I got the instruction leaflet for the RPi3 version instead of the RPi4, the J2 header where the reset switch can be connected has changed position on the board, but that's easy to figure out. I really love them and think they're great for industrial environments (wallmount, no fans, ports can be covered) or have them on display around the house. Took some picture while unboxing and assembling the cases here: https://imgur.com/gallery/wg6un0p
Pros - Best looking case and just heavy enough to keep it from moving around. The colors are awesome and I wish I could buy one of each. I like the reboot button it is very handy.
Cons - Two cases arrived in the mail and both had scratches. It looks like the packaging needs to be improved to keep the case from being damaged during shipping. It is a shame that soldering is required. The camera attachment slot and screws are nice but you cannot adjust where the camera is taking pictures unless you move the whole case. Moving the case to take a picture is not possible for me. Documentation does not mention anything about the thermal grease. The sticky pads applied to the heat sink pillars that are shown in the documentation were new to me. I wasn't sure if the grease was applied to them or not. The heat sink pillars were also not something I have seen before. I had to remove existing heat sinks to use the cases. I don't like the logo on the top of the case. The reboot button should be an on/off switch.
I am happy with my cases but thought I would share thoughts on minor improvements. I would buy more if small changes are made.
This case has prevented overheating completely for RasPi3. It looks great, and the quality is much better than the plastic default case. Shipping was super fast from Canada, and the seller was communicative the entire time. Highly recommended.
One of the best passive cooled cases for the Pi 3. 1 piece milled aluminum excellent heat dissipation. Nice hard reset button next to the power supply port. The only thing I didn't like about the case is the use of torx or hex screws which required me to use the allen wrench instead of standard philips screws. Lastly its a bit hard to get the Pi board into the case as you have to angle and force it in. I think pulling the board out would be next to impossible after its in. It would probably be a bit easier to get in and out of the case if the USB and Ethernet ports were completely cut out to slide up and down instead of down and then poke out the back. Other than that great case!
