NEVER GET THE PRODUCT

Just received the 2 ordered Shields

For DMX Shield for Arduino (RDM Capable)

NOTE: The Tindie Review site forced me to rate Product, Documentation, and Communication for which I have no experience. I will rate them at a later date.

I just received the two units after waiting one month for delivery - fact, not complaint.

Good thing the cardboard box was well taped, the entire box was dripping wet and only held together by the clear packing tape. It was left by my door on a dry day so it must have gotten wet during shipping - it was thoroughly soaked ! The two Shields were packaged in heat sealed anti-static bags. Unfortunately, one of them leaked and the PCB and the foam the protruding leads were stuck in was dripping wet and some water poured out of the bag on opening - there seamed to be a very small hole in the bag where a pin had poked through.. The other Shield was bone dry. There was minimal corrosion on the wet Shield PCB which looked like the solder flux from the secondary hand soldering of the large connectors - cleaned up nicely with alcohol and I don't expect any issues. The dry one showed no signs of corrosion - only a little left over solder flux from the hand soldering process.

I am overall impressed with the boards and parts and heavily disappointed in the shipper which was China post and then USPS in the states. I think it was wet longer than the time it was in the states so probably got wet on the way from Shanghai where the package originated.

I will post more regarding the operation when I get this project rolling next month.

Great tool, does exactly what I want it to do.

Purchased my first shield half a year ago, just recieved a second one. The shield does exactly what I want it to do: Send dmx signals to my light installations based on sensor signals processed by my arduino.

There wasn't really any documentation at all, and it took some time to get going with the correct arduino library (I'm very new to arduino), but after a week of fiddling it was doing what I wanted it to do.

All in all super satisfied.

DMX Shield Review

For 2.5kV Isolated DMX 512 Shield for Arduino - R2

Nice product, Quality and reliability AAA. You can select when order the XLR type 3 or 5 pins. We use this product for industrial purpose. We recommend to use Arduino like Leonardo or Mega with more than one serial port to be able to use monitor and programming port without problem. Jumper configuration are nice but in your final product it will be better to weld pins instead use jumper.

No way to have my DMX shield working

For 2.5kV Isolated DMX 512 Shield for Arduino - R2

I needed to use this shield on a DMX LED PAR in master mode.
I have tested with conceptic library and many Arduino (nano and mega).
No way to make it work: I have tested with all different positions on switches. (I have tested with DMXMaster library too)
I had the issue to upload the source code, that I have solved by unswitching UART and/or EN.
Code is going to arduino then I reswitch EN, Master and 2 other swith in UART mode and nothing hapened on DMX light.
My DMX PAR works well with address 4 at 255 (power) and 5 (RED) from 1 to 255 to light the RED leds. I have programmed this 2 address. On another hand, there is a small red light on the DMX PAR back. When we are speaking in DMX on the line from any source this led is blinking. With the DMX Shield it doesn't blink at all.
How could we step by step test this shield, because after 3 days investigation, I think the board isn't working.
When it works, I could buy many shield for Sound and Light shows.
If I can't run it, I will move to Raspberry with EMTEC USB.

Great board and great support from seller!

For SPI to DMX controller (3 onboard DMX Interfaces)

A really handy and unique board. Controls multiple (3) DMX universes with ease via the SPI bus of your microcontroller while freeing up processing/timing from your microcontroller as well. Am using two of these boards for 4 universes. Great communication and support from the seller also - many thanks!

Great Product!

Took a while to get my code together but now that I have it written this shield works great! Excited to order more for my future projects.

Shipping was slow to the U.S. so be sure you have enough time before your project is due. (took a little over a month)

Super satisfied with this shield

For 2.5kV Isolated DMX 512 Shield for Arduino - R2

The shield was super easy to install on my Arduino Leonardo ETH. The provided documentation is very good and I could use the shield with only a few changes on my Arduino (I documented the changes here: https://github.com/NERDDISCO/VisionLord). My DMX universe is controllable like with every other DMX controller. The quality is also super good. I'm very satisfied and I'm looking forward to buy more shields in the future.

Good quality product.

Received the prduct a little later than the estimated 22 days, but it finally got here.

The product in it self is of good quality and simple to work with, programming with the packaged liberary is easy, it could have been a bit better documented.

Received wrong board

For 2.5kV Isolated DMX 512 Shield for Arduino - R2

Contacted the selled about receiving the wrong board . The board does not have any XLR connectors and is part number CTC-RSA-20-1 instead of the DMS shield part number CTC-DRA-13-R2. hope this gets resolved. Plus it took over 4 weeks to get the shield.

Not impressed

For 6 Channel LED Shield for Arduino (0,35-0,7-1A)

I ordered 2 of these. On both, the pin headers were not tight to the board.

On one board, one of the headers had bent over and partially broken off and a capacitor had one leg loose. I've a deft hand for soldering, so it's not a huge issue for me.

I haven't put power to them yet, so I can't comment on functionality.

There was no documentation, but the board is fairly well marked.

I messaged with a specific question and never got a response.

some kind of trouble

The product seems to be good quality,
however i can't make it works in slave mode with the example sketch, led on pin 13 never lights on OR never turns off. it seems to bee no response at all. my DMX signal is OK and i try a 120 ohm resistor on the output XLR with no amelioration. Did someone had the same problem? is it possible that be the result of some electromagnetic perturbation ?

Worked fine when arrived, no tracking on package

The order was processed within a day, however the shipping took a long time, as advertised. For this reason the lack of a tracking code was quite a nuisance. The product itself works great and lives up to the expectations.

problem running basic examples sketch

I Had a problem running examples sketch, while trying to make it work as Slave.
The led on 13 pin was always turn on. I was able to solve it turning on arduino board wait a second and the plug XLR DMX signal to the shield.
If I turn on arduino board (with DMX shield) with DMX signal plug it does't works.
Do you Know any wait to solve this problem without having to wait to plug DMX signal?

Great Product, Hard to Get Started

Hello,

I have found this product, the DMX Shield, to be in great condition and of good quality.

However, I found getting it setup to be a bit of a challenge. Of course, ordering this product, even finding this website, you probably have a bit of tech skills. But, given I would qualify myself as such I still found it difficult to get the project started. Some of the Arduino sketches would not compile, and the LED blink (simplest of all) would not work. Needless to say I had to abandon the project as the development timeline was tight.

That is not to say it does not work, or you shouldn't get it. You just need to be well versed in electronics and have patience to get it working.

Perhaps it is just a new product, but it would be great to see very clear documentation that was accessible from the site rather than having to chug through it on one's own.

E' un ottimo prodotto

La vostra scheda DMX è ottima, fa quello che deve fare, dovreste farne una per Teensy 3.1 o 2.0++ , in passato ho acquistato da un rivenditore italiano il vostro prodotto e mi ero trovato già molto bene, ci ho fatto un convertitore MIDI CC a DMX che uso con FLStudio per la gestione rapida delle luci nei locali associato a TOUCH OSC su tablet, controllare con tanta semplicità degli impianti luci è fantastico.
Dovreste integrarci anche un pannello LED numerico (a 3 numeri) e due pulsanti almeno, sarebbe così perfetta!
Adesso mi sto costruendo una Luce DMX con ottimi (usando come slave la vostra scheda) con buoni risultati, ho qualche problema con la scelta del canale iniziale.
In futuro acquisterò ancora il vostro prodotto.
Nel frattempo avrei piacere a contattarvi per avere delle delucidazioni, un lavoro molto bello con questa scheda, GRAZIE!

A quality product

For 2.5kV Isolated DMX 512 Shield for Arduino - R2

The shield works well and has a very solid build with two XLR plugs of good quality.
The library is also very simple to use.
Note:
To not switch the onboard jumper back and forth between programming and testing it's possible to use two IO pins instead of RX/TX, the manufacturer also suggested to eventually use an Arduino Leonardo…

Good shield, works well

For DMX Shield for Arduino (RDM Capable)

The shield works as expected. I'm using it as a slave to receive a DMX signal. Switching jumpers to enable/disable the board is kind of a pain (a switch would've been nicer), but it's possible to set the jumpers to read the signal from pins 3 and 4. If setup to read from those pins, it's no longer necessary to disable the shield when uploading, which is nice.

Technically everything ok - invoice missing

Hello,

after a journey (China to Germany) which took a few days the DMX shield arrived and we are already using it without a problem.

We got problems at another area: German customs withheld the package and we had to go there get it ourselves, because they need an invoice at the outside of the package.

Actually there is no invoice at all, except the email we got immediately after the order. I hope I won't get into additional trouble with our finance department over that!

But as I said: Technically everything seems ok.

Hi,

I'm happy to hear that technically everything is fine, however... your customs issues is unfortunately something that only happens in Germany and German customs is not the only place where the package have to go trough.

In the past I tried to get things easier into Germany by doing so and it really doen't matter, they just come up with another reason why they keep it till the maximum period. though they usually let it eventually go trough.

I can only hope they will become nicer to things being shipped from China, for sure for such low value items.

This is so unprofessional... I will probably return it ASAP.
