Pretty cool gizmo!
For ColorBeam
I am using this to light up some 3D printed objects I made using translucent ABS. It works great for this! The color choices are comprehensive, though I wish they would make some special editions for 4th of July (Red/White/Blue) and maybe other holidays, though I guess the Christmas mode (Red/Green) can be used for St. Patrick's day if you imagine 'red' is right for the color of one's eyes the day after!
I have it running on a little standalone USB charger supply and it has been "steady as she goes" for nearly a month now. The fast rates are a bit much for me to look at long term, but are nice to be able to see the color pallet cycling. I think these would be great for lots of other small lighting applications, say for museum displays, as the LED is really a 'spot' type that can be made to point at a particular object or part of an object or made more diffuse and cover a larger area.
The sellers got my unit shipped right away (as promised) and sent along a note to let me know it was on the way. The enclosed instructions are a nice size on a color business card, though not really needed. I just wish I had more places to use it!
