The MLX90640 Handheld Thermal Imager is a compact, self-contained infrared imaging device designed for high-precision non-contact temperature measurement. It features a built-in 32x24 pixel far-infrared array sensor and a integrated 2.8-inch TFT display (320x240 resolution), allowing you to visualize heat signatures instantly without any external equipment. Encased in a durable FR4 epoxy shell, this tool is portable enough for field use while remaining robust for industrial environments.

Why did you make it?

We recognized the need for an affordable, "all-in-one" thermal solution that bridges the gap between expensive professional imagers and cheap smartphone plug-ins. Professionals and DIY enthusiasts often need to detect heat leaks, monitor industrial components, or troubleshoot PCBs without the hassle of connecting to a phone or PC. This device was developed to provide a reliable, long-lasting tool that can be used independently for everything from home energy audits to automotive maintenance and security detection.
