A set of two chips containing a new firmware for the Wersi MK1 and EX20 synthesizers with several patches (own work) to fix critical bugs. These AT29C256 EEPROMs can be installed in place of the original chips, and allow these synthesizers to be used with my open-source sound editor here.
Caution: make sure you select the correct firmware based on the effects module that is installed in your synthesizer! If you are not sure, the only way to know is to open up your synthesizer and identify the correct module.
I have been working on a modern open-source sound editor for the vintage (now defunct) 1980's Wersi MK1 and EX20 digital synthesizers. This editor is now available here, but requires the installation of a new firmware in the original machine that fixes a number of critical bugs. The firmware is available for free for anyone who has access to an EEPROM programmer and the right chips, but this product is provided as a meant of convenience for those who don't.
Major efforts in reverse engineering and tracking down original documentation have resulted in the development of this editor, with the sole purpose being to overcome its design flaws and expose as much of the potential sound synthesis capabilities as possible in a modern and convenient way. To revive the purpose of this remarkable and digitally pioneering vintage synthesizer.
This firmware, along with the editor, will allow anyone with a MK1 or EX20 synthesizer to use their synthesizers to, hopefully, their full extent!
