The vacuum fluorescent display is a special vacuum tube developed in the 60s. They were popular for their futuristic teal glow with remarkable, distinctive brightness. The ИB-6 seven segment display from the soviet union was built in the late 80's for massive desk calculators. Six of these tubes together create the clock display of Fluorescence.

ILLUMINATING AHEAD Each and every tube is statically driven by individual microchips, delivering intense, uncompromising and flicker free brightness even in bright day light.

SIGN OF THE TIMES Of course, the clock of Fluorescence by The VFD Collective is ridiculously accurate. Powered by a real time clock with a temperature compensated crystal oscillator, it makes adjusting time completely unnecessary(2).

LAY DOWN YOU’RE SLOW When you are ready for the night, Fluorescence can enter one of the five, or an individually designed sleep profile. The clock fades into night shift, and only uses a quarter of the energy. Of course, brightness of both the clock tube display and LED illumination can be adjusted individually any time

SAFE AND SOUND Fluorescence is powered by an intelligent USB Type C power interface. It’s the safest way for both power delivery and data transfer. Each power rail is guarded by a precise fuse that shuts down securely when it detects an issue

(1) Fluorescence App has been officially compiled and tested for macOS Catalina 10.15.7 and Windows 10, build 19041.572 Fluorescence supports communication over USB Type C (internally: USB 2.0 VCP). Bluetooth is supported, when the optional Bluetooth upgrade is installed, and when the host computer supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

(2) With an accuracy of max. ±2 ppm specified and guaranteed in the DS3231 RTC datasheet, the time error of OpenVFD will be below ±63 seconds per year. Ideal calculation based on full supply voltage provided by CR2032 lithium battery. DS3231 is leap year compensated until year 2100. DST needs to be set manually.
