What is it?

A Kalimba that allows you to change key or scale at the touch of a button and even its sound. It now includes a built-in looper.

Why did you make it?

I wanted the playing experience of a kalimba / thumb piano, with the flexibility of MIDI.

What makes it special?

It can output:

MIDI over USB (Now USB-C)
MIDI over TRS (a TRS/5-pin DIN lead (type A/Korg) gives MIDI over 5-pin DIN)

You can easily switch:

The scale or mode, eg Lydian through Locrian, minor and major pentatonic and more
The key and octave, eg C5 or D4
The MIDI channel

It has touch-sensitive pads with MIDI velocity sensitivity for expressive playing, or you can fix the velocity at any value. The MIDI output means that you can use it in a variety of scenarios - with electronic or software instruments or DAW, even your phone. The alternating note layout of a kalimba and playing with the thumbs makes for some interesting and creative playing.
