It’s not a finished mic; it’s a hackable playground for DIY audio makers. The board lets you connect up to five electret capsules, buffer their outputs, and shape the mix with individual volume and panning controls via 2 Output (right and left)
Think of it as five microphones and a mini-mixer in one PCB. You can use all five capsules for wide ambient textures, or just solder in one or two for custom builds. The PCB is designed for easy soldering, easy modding, and open experimentation.
Most microphones are designed to be transparent and predictable. I wanted something different: a mic that invites experimentation, both in electronics and in sound. This PCB gives you the freedom to build your own spatial microphone array, learn about audio circuits, and tweak the design without being locked into a factory-finished product.
It’s built for makers, musicians, field recordists, and circuit hackers who like to solder, modify, and create unique tools that nobody else has.
What makes it special?
Up to 5 mic inputs → solder as many capsules as you want (1 to 5).
Compatible with probably any Electret Capsule you can find.
Buffered outputs → clean signal path, ready for mixers, recorders, or FX chains.
Integrated volume & panning controls → blend and place each mic in the stereo field, directly on the board.
Hackable design → footprints for swapping op-amps, adjusting gain resistors, adding filters, or circuit-bending.
Op-amp flexibility → ships with an LM358, but fully compatible with popular upgrades like NE5532, TL072, and similar dual op-amps. Swap them to adjust noise performance, headroom, and sonic character.
Maker-friendly layout → large pads, through-hole components, clear silkscreen, and extra pads for connectors.
Not just a mic → it’s basically a mixer + multi-mic array you can customize however you want.
What you get
1 × Pentaphonic Microphone PCB (silkscreen + drilled).
PDF with schematic, suggested BOM (easy-to-source parts), and quickstart notes.
Who it’s for
DIY audio makers who love building unique gear.
Musicians & sound designers exploring new textures.
Students & hobbyists learning audio electronics.
Anyone curious about turning “what if…” into a working microphone.
