Stackable 8x8 CODEC board for Teensy 4.x

Due to new duties announced by the US government, I am suspending sales to that country until a mechanism is in place for the duty to be paid by the receiver. Orders from the US will be refunded via Tindie.

• Each fully-differential input channel can handle microphone or line inputs.
• The fully-differential outputs can drive low impedance devices such as headphones or 600 ohm balanced lines.
• This board stacks to 16 inputs and 16 outputs with the supplied Teensy Audio drivers.

This design supersedes the previous CS42448-based designs is the chip has been notified as end of life. It is the only known option for multi-channel Teensy audio.

A total of four (2 input and 2 output) wing boards are needed for each 8x8 audio board.

Boards

Main Board

The main board contains just the core processing elements, as there are companion Wing boards with coupling capacitors and either TRS, XLR or Combo XLR connectors.

The main board is sold as a kit - all electronic components are mounted, and 2 of 14 long pin female headers (Teensy), 4 of 2x6-way IDC connectors (wing) and 1 of 5x2 way long pin header (power) are supplied loose.

Neither a Teensy microcontroller or the optional -5V supply components (rear of board) are included.

Wing boards for input and output connections

The wing boards carry 4 channels, so 2 input and 2 output wings (listed separately) are needed for each 8x8 main board.

Each is connected to the main board by a 6x2 pin IDC cable (listed separately).

Wing boards are listed separately and are sold bare, plus the IDC connector which is not mounted.

Electronic components and TRS or XLR connectors are not included with wing boards.
