Description

Easy I/O has finally arrived for the Zipit Z2 Wireless Messenger. Connect your Zipit to real world sensors, build yourself a docking station or whatever else you dream up. This board is designed to work with a Zipit Z2 that has been upgraded with the u-boot bootloader and a newer Linux Kernel. Full details about the board features can be found on my site here.

3.3V to 5V Regulator
USB Host Port
Micro USB port for OTG & Charging
Jumpers for USB PWR and USB Host/OTG Data Pins
GPIO header
Audio out / Mic input / I2C Header
Power Header (3.3V, 1.8V, DC IN, Regulator 5V Output, GND)
Three 5V Relay Control Headers

What You Get

The SMT assembled kit comes with all surface mount parts already soldered (Hirose Connector, Regulator Circuit, Relay Circuit, GPIO/I2C Resistors, Micro USB) and includes the remaining through hole parts for you to solder. The fully assembled kit is the complete board with everything soldered. Zipit Z2 Handheld is not included and only in photos for reference.

What is a Zipit Z2?

The Zipit Z2 Wireless Messenger was intended to be a wifi connected chat client for kids, until it was hacked to run a full Linux operating system. If you are unfamiliar with the device, I have a lot of info on my site here. There is also still a good group of people (including me) that hang out in #zipit on freenode if you have questions.
