What is it?

VFD, a display vacuum tube based power amplifier. You may think typo or I am wrong, but it is true. The tube is DM160, originally made for indicator, but its structure is true triode, so I made a power amplifier by this tube with class-D amplifier. Just like my Nutube amplifier series, DM160 is working as "analog signal processor" putting vacuum tube essences to modern class-D sound. Indeed I've made high-resolution USB DAC with this tube and I've confirmed its sound is something "addictive". Please try "addictive sound"!

Why did you make it?

I made several amplifier by Nutube, but single Nutube costs $50. When I check the tube price, $50 is not low-end but relatively expensive group. (except for ultra high-end tubes >$1000~). Indeed sole $50 equals to this amplifier price. Nutube is WONDERFUL direct-heated twin triode, and I wanted to find another good tube by good price and good quality. Now eventually I found the best "substitution", DM160, and quickly made power amplifier!
