This is a semi-kit. All of SMD components are pre-soldered but for completion, moderate soldering skill is required.

What is it?

Yamaha's Programmable Sound Generator (PSG) YMZ294 with Arduino boot loader loaded ATmega328. In addition, this board has four keypad and you can assign sound as you wish! Sound can be generated 3-polyphonic and one noise generator in YMZ294. Its data sheet (it is of YMZ284 but command are same) is also available!

Why did you make it?

With my previous chiptune player, you can enjoy "chiptune" but indeed YMZ294 can generate arbitral sound by 3-polyphonic sound generator and one noise generator and ten types of envelope modulation. This means, you can make a kind of "music instrument" with this chip! and I quickly made this board!

What makes it special?

• On board four keypads connected with ATMega328P's GPIO (D11, 12, 13, and A0 in Arduino assign).

• Arduino compatible with Arduino Pro (3.3V/8MHz) bootloader loaded ATmega328

• Onboard USB-UART (Silicon Labs. CP2102) is prepared for direct sketch upload.

• Onboard 0.25W audio amplifier (NJM2113) for speaker drive is prepared.

• Output selection jumper can select audio out for speaker or headphone jack (3.5mm mono).

• Small high-quality magnetic speaker is attached for standalone play!
