Recently I am enjoying "ancient" vacuum tube device. Of course I've known it but I have not tried due to "special voltage requirement". Heater voltage from 1.5V or 3V for battery tube is easy to generate (simply by LDO) but plate voltage should be high around 30 V. More than 30 years ago, high voltage battery for this voltage (B-battery) was available but already completely disappeared. One way to generate high voltage can be some special 12V battery, series connected button battery, but they are expensive and easy to use up. For this purpose, I've used "uncompleted PCB for Nutube amplifier" which can generate high voltage but it is not smart at all. This time I designed new PCB and circuit especially for this purpose.
29 V output generated by on-board booster, suitable for plate voltage supply
1.8 V and 3.3 V out for heater voltage. Naturally the experiment will be limited to 1.5V or 3V heater tube.
Just connecting USB cable is enough to recharge your battery!
Onboard Power LED and charging state LEDs (green:full, red:charging)
All of the parts except for Lipo battery are included. (unconnected, sole cell) Lipo battery is prohibited by international parcel regulation. This board has USB connector but USB bus power is NOT supported, and Lipo battery is indispensable!! Please find it at your local reseller. Any capacity more than 400mAh will be enough.
It is important and I would say again, Lipo battery cell (3.7V) is required to operate this board. The cell is not USB power bank but cell itself. Please find it at your local reseller. Any capacity more than 400mAh will be enough.
It may be a kind of common sense, but please check short circuit (Especially between plate (B-voltage) to ground) before switch-on. Long time short circuit for 29V output may destroy on-board voltage booster!
