Why?

I built the Contrib Cal because I wanted a physical monument to my code—something that could celebrate a productive day or give me a little side-eye on a lazy one.

This is more than just a light-up box. It’s a complete computer with the Raspberry Pi Zero W that turns your GitHub activity into a glowing, customizable light display. It also doubles as a dead-simple self-hosted hub to run tools like Pi-hole, Tailscale, and Syncthing with a single click.

Quick note: since it’s only a 7x4 display not all the numbers for the temperature in C look perfect. Maybe it will be updated with another way to show numbers soon?

Here’s what makes it special:

✅ It just works.
Plug in the USB-C cable, log into the slick web interface, and connect your GitHub. Watch as it lights up with your actual commit history. Green for wins, whatever color you want for the rest.

✅ It’s built to be hacked.
The firmware is Python and bash. Add new animations, make it show your Spotify status, or change how it pulls data. It’s all on GitHub.

✅ It’s built right.
Features a custom PCB for a clean build and a 3D-printed enclosure for a pro look. No janky wires or hot glue here.

This isn't a mass-produced gadget from a factory. I make these by hand, one at a time, in small batches. That means:

Please allow 3–4 weeks for me to build and test your unit after you order.
You’re getting something I’ve personally put together with care, not something slapped together on an assembly line.
