This device is designed to connect to your existing NMEA-0183 based GPS, AIS or physical NMEA network. It sends every NMEA message it receives to every attached WiFi device. For example, you may connect a laptop with OpenCPN, a cell phone and tablet each with Navionics. All three devices will each receive a copy of the NMEA message that originated from the NMEA-0183 device or network.

All connections (serial or wifi) are bi-directional. For example, you could push NMEA messages to Wifi from the laptop, this will reach all other connected Wifi devices and the connected NMEA-0183 based GPS, AIS or network.
