This is an input / output board for the Planck 6502 computer
It features one WDC 65C22 VIA (Versatile Interface Adapter) chip that provides one PS/2 port to plug in a keyboard to your computer, one 8 bit parallel port, and one SPI (65SIB) port that can address up to 7 peripherals.
This board can also drive the 4 debug LEDs that are on the motherboard.
There are also 8 leds on the board itself, that are mapped to the VIA's PORTA pins. These PORTA pins also drive the parallel port at the top of the board.
The VIA's PORTB pins handle the SPI and keyboard functionality. You will note that there is also a schmitt trigger inverter on the board. This is because the rise time of most PS/2 keyboards is too slow to be properly accounted for by the VIA chip, so this inverter makes sure that the rise and fall times are quick enough for the keypresses to register properly.
The default code on the ROM of the Planck computer handles the keyboard properly, so all you have to do is plug this card in SLOT 0 on the motherboard, connnect a keyboard, reset the computer, and it should work immediately!
You can also get the LCD board to get a fully functional, stand-alone computer system.
