What is it?

This device is a printed circuit board measuring 16.5 × 15 cm, with 16 connectors that allow you to test different combinations of cables, such as HDMI-HDMI, Type C-Type C, USB 2.0 Plug - MicroUSB 2.0, and more. Additionally, this board can be used to check connectors in various devices, where it’s hard to access connectors directly with a multimeter probe — it’s much more convenient. This device is designed for testing cables for short circuits, open circuits, or incorrect pinout (crossed pins). I redesigned the board to make it more convenient and easier to understand, removing two interchangeable connectors. For instance, USB Type B 3.2 is backward compatible with USB Type B 2.0, and MicroUSB 3.0 is backward compatible with MicroUSB 2.0. For better clarity, I added more silk-screen printing, and an instruction manual will be available soon. To allow for future automation of tests, I included two 25-pin and three 2-pin 2mm pitch connectors on the board — work on this is already in progress.

Why did you make it?

I created this device for myself initially because I frequently repair equipment and often need to test connectors without disassembling the device. It helps me detect issues like short circuits on USB or HDMI signal lines or identify broken connections. In my opinion, the first version was less user-friendly and required more explanations. I redesigned the board, simplified the layout, and added more clarifications in the silk-screen for better understanding.

What makes it special?

I hope it will help many people simplify their troubleshooting and debugging processes. Maybe someone will even want to build their own device based on this board. Either way, I’d be really happy if it turns out to be useful to others.

P.S. I didn’t expect such a high number of preorders for the previous version, so I immediately began working on the redesign.
