This is a DIY project intended for enthusiast with advanced soldering skills to add NVMe SSD to the A1707 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016/2017. By default Apple shipped this MacBook with soldered SSD, so you can't do any upgrade to it if the SSD's capacity too small. This adapter will also solve the dreaded SSD issue on this Mac, as we observe a lot of MacBook increasingly suffer dead SSDs.
Other reason to install this to your MacBook?
This is a one time modification, that requires advanced soldering skills, but after installation the end user can easily remove/upgrade/reinstall the NVMe SSD himself without soldering in no time.
Why did we make it?
We built it for fun, this project benefited from our first-for fun project, that is the NevBolt 1, NevBolt 2 and X-GPU. and we will continue to create it for M1 too.

Very simple to do (unlike removing the chips)
First of all, you guys are amazing. I never thought I'll use a Macbook newer than the 2015 models, since I'm not willing to buy anything that has a non-removable SSD. If more people ask me to do this modification, I will definitely buy more.
Some thoughts about the underfilling: I got the felling that the underfilling, that Apple used for the SSD/Controller chips, is kind of the same material that Roland used in the 80s for some of their synthesisers (e.g. Juno-106) to cover the printed voice chip PCBs (80017a). After many years - due to air humidity - this material starts to become conductive and therefore these chips slowly but surely fail if it's not being removed early enough (for instance a jar filled with acetone etc).
