Note: This listing is for a Bare Circuit Board, intended for DIY assembly
This listing is for those keen and adventurous tinkerers that are up for a challenge and want a bare PCB to try hand assembling one of these themselves. This board is all 0402 or larger passives, but does feature some BGA parts, solderpaste and reflow is recommended.
In addition to this PCB you will need to order the parts separately, along with a solder paste stencil.
The ButterStick is an FPGA development board to experiment with high-speed interfaces. It features a Lattice ECP5 FPGA, DDR3 memory, 3 high-speed SYZYGY interfaces, Gigabit Ethernet, and High-speed USB.
I wanted to experiment with high-speed interfaces (HDMI, LVDS displays, MIPI) and camera interfaces (parallel CMOS, LVDS). The SYZYGY interface looked perfect, but there were no boards featuring it based on the Lattice ECP5, so I built this.
The on-board FPGA is an Lattice ECP5 which is fully supported by the open source FPGA toolchain. Along with the list of features:
I live streamed assembly of the first 2 ButterStick PCBs. You can watch that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq5aaVxqFTo
