What is it?

YMF288 MegaMod is a music module for the desktop version of MegaGRRL, supported by the official firmware. The FM type of YMF288 is OPN3-L, which is actually a simplified version of OPNA.

Why did you make it?

In 2021, I bought a lot of YMF288 chips, so I needed a hardware to quickly test the chips. So I designed it.

What makes it special?

YMF288 uses CMOS technology and lacks ADPCM channels compared to OPNA. YMF288 supports the use of an external 16-bit DAC, so the sound quality is very good.
