What is it?

Dual SAA1099 module for MegaGRRL, the world's first independent dual SAA1099 VGM player hardware.

Why did you make it?

Natalie and I both wanted to try to adapt SAA1099 for MegaGRRL, because there was no other project that could play VGM with SAA1099 before. You might say that PC-ISA's SAAYM and MSX's SoundStar can do it, but that requires you to buy a retro computer, a sound card, a retro monitor, a retro keyboard, a retro hard drive, and install a retro system... Yes, such a complicated process just to listen to SAA1099 music. MegaGRRL is so simple, you just need to insert 2xSAA1099 modules correctly, copy VGM/VGZ files to SD card, and you can play the wonderful SAM Coupe music.

What makes it special?

After several versions of iteration, it currently works well, has clear sound quality, and has a chip select signal indicator to provide basic visual feedback.
