Meet Pisound Micro!

A new addition to our Pisound sound card line - Pisound Micro is a low-latency sound card, MIDI interface, and I/O expansion board optimized for Raspberry Pi and similar Single Board Computers.

This sound card offers low latency, high-quality stereo input and output, a dedicated 1x1 MIDI interface, and an additional 37 GPIOs. It seamlessly integrates into your hardware projects while preserving your SBC's GPIO space.

Plus, the card does not come with pre-soldered connectors, allowing for complete design flexibility.

Key Features

• Audio: High-quality audio via the stereo ADAU1961 codec, delivering 24-bit streams up to 96 kHz with over 98 dB SNR. It offers 6 flexible input pins and 7 output pins for balanced, unbalanced, or mono connections.
• MIDI: 4 dedicated pins for MIDI input and output to connect your choice of MIDI T(R)S standard connectors (DIN-5, 3.5mm or 2.5mm). GPIO pins can also be assigned to indicate MIDI activity, ideal for LED feedback.
• GPIOs: Access to 37 additional GPIO signal lines, with some tailored for unique tasks such as reading potentiometers or interacting with encoders (12 analog, 25 digital pins).
• Pin Availability: Pisound Micro interacts with your SBC through I²S, I²C and two GPIOs only, leaving you plenty of options to connect other peripherals from buttons to OLED displays.

Software Tools

• Pisound Micro Mapper: An intuitive tool that allows you to define and map physical controls (such as potentiometers and encoders) to Pisound Micro's I/O pins using a JSON configuration file. This tool can also translate these controls into MIDI and OSC messages and map them to the ALSA mixer controls.
• “libpisoundmicro” Library: The libpisoundmicro is a straightforward library written in C/C++ with bindings to other programming languages such as Python. Its purpose is to provide access to the I/O features of the Pisound Micro. This library offers both procedural and object-oriented APIs and enables the detection of GPIO value changes by making use of the Linux File Descriptors, with minimal usage of the host board's CPU resources.
• Patchbox OS: Patchbox OS is a custom Linux distribution specially designed for Raspberry Pi based audio projects. It comes pre-configured for low latency audio performance and pre-installed audio software that will help you get started with your projects in no time!
