The Backbeater sensor works with an easy-to-use tempo monitoring App for percussionists. I'm pretty sure it has other applications as it's just a piezoelectric vibration sensor adapted to work with smartphones. Plus I made the app.

Why did you make it?

I made it because I am a drummer and I wanted a reverse metronome - a device that monitored my tempo, rather than dictated it. I couldn't find anything that did the job well.

What makes it special?

It's really special. It's my baby. It launched me into a career as an entrepreneur. Also I have a small number of extremely zealous fans around the world, including Neil Conti (David Bowie's drummer!).
