Tenax Mundus, is the tenacious treaded prototype plantoid ready to conquer wild territories such as mildly cluttered carpet, and courageously... err safely avoid beasts such as tame cats or sleeping infants. Using an Arduino-based sensory suite and the quality of life of its plant center, Tenax is able to autonomously explore its environment in search of the prime location for its own prosperity. Users can also tether via our remote app for smartphone and control the functions of the plantoid manually.
Tenax Mundus represents the most basic unifying concept of our plantoid mind model. The robust treaded design allows for travel over moderately rough indoor and some outdoor terrain, and uses data from the interior of its terrarium brain house a small specimen of sundew, or other plant fit for a terrarium environment. Currently, the sensors used on Tenax Mundus are soil moisture, and air temperature and humidity for the interior brain stem, and ambient light, MQ gas sensors and AQ, and ultrasonic sensor.
Plantoid Robotics are an understated and fascinating facet of science, incorporating biology, environmental sensing, and robotics into a compelling fusion that serves to challenge and inspire enthusiasts of any of these fields.
Plantoid robots unfortunately remain a highly conceptual field of study, either being treated as merely an agronomic appliance or studied as high level sensitivity studies in labs. Tenax Mundus and the rest of the Practical Plantoid Robot family serve to build up the abilities of open-source technology to serve these higher level studies with artful and creative new robotics concepts for builders of any skill level to jump in and and participate in this fascinating field of study.
