TTL to RS-232 Level Shifter From Griffin Lab

This project is a TTL to RS-232 level shifter. It is specifically designed with the Texas Instruments MAX232EIDR (SOIC-16 package) for its higher speed (250kbits/s) and its wider temperature operating range. The board features a developer-friendly layout with drills for 0.1" (2.54mm) pin headers on both sides, making it an ideal choice for breadboard prototyping or compact custom builds where a DB9 connector is too bulky.

The board was originally designed as a fast and easy way to interface with RS-232 equipment without having to track down proprietary cables and connectors.

To complete the Bare PCB, you must source and solder the following components:

1x - TI MAX232EIDR IC (SOIC - 16)
6x - 1.0µF Capacitors (recommend 2.2uF ±10% 25V Ceramic Capacitor X7R 0805)
2x - 1x4 0.1" (2.54mm) 11mm Pitch Pin Header
1x - 1x2 0.1" (2.54mm) 11mm pitch pin Header
1x - 0.1" (2.54mm) Shunt / Jumper.
