The MFOS designs are now officialy supported by Synthcube.
In agreement with Synthcube, I'm doing conversions to Eurorack/SMD format of several MFOS designs, including the SLMS.
This process involves ordering PCB batches on each revision. Each batch usually contains 10 units. I only use a couple units from each revision to test and validate the modifications.
So, the MFOS SLMS PCBs sold here are the extra boards from the prototype batches:
They are not the final product.
They might require extra work to get them fully operational.
There are different PCB revisions available. Check the Changelog for more details.
Version 1.4 is FINAL. No more Prototype boards are being made. Those are the last units available.
I offer full support in this process. Your feedbacks help me improve the design.
This is the pre-release PCB of the forthcoming SMT/Eurorack version of the classic Sound Lab Mini-Synth, originally designed by Ray Wilson from Music From Outer Space.
The PCB can be mounted in a Eurorack format (3U) and is 33 or 34 HP wide.
Attention: this is a PCB only. No component, no front panel provided.
Version 1.4 includes some important improvements. The Sync function has been upgraded as per Ray's recommendations. The VCO2 now tracks 5 octaves.
Version 1.3 adds a Hi Freq correction trimmer. 5 octaves in tune on VCO1. VCO2 still has only 2 octaves in tune. See my Sync Mod Board
This conversion requires NO WIRING at all!
SLMS is composed of two VCO (Saw and Saw+PWM), one Envelope Generator (AR, re trig-able), one LFO, one VCF, one VCA and one Noise source. All the elements are internally routed. LFO and AR Envelope can modulate (On/Off) all the other elements.
The SMT conversion respects the original design. The circuit is 100% identical. Even the component references match, so that you can follow Ray's original documentation. The only differences are the SMT components instead of THT, a new PCB layout and a power supply interface for Eurorack compatibility (+12/-12 Volts).
You can check my own documentation with build instructions here.
I offer a 33HP 1.6mm Matte Black PCB Front panel. Fits perfectly.
You can also check Modular Audio Devices for a nice PCB Front Panel
