To preface, I have no issues with the keyboard now that it is finally working. I was eventually able to set things up with ZMK and would not hesitate recommending a purchase of the PCB and plates from Markus. I would, however, not recommend ordering the build service due to the fact that the seller did not respond to inquiries I had after the item was delivered. Communication before placing and during the order was perfect.

I initially thought the issue was a software one (I am a beginner with ZMK), but after many infuriating hours of troubleshooting, I discovered that there were actually just a number of solder joints that weren't connected at all! This becomes an issue for me due to the fact that Markus advertises that he tests his boards for all functions/components before shipment.

For the product I received, the right sided board had two LEDs (causing backlight problems) and one switch which were not soldered completely to the board. The left board had a single switch not soldered properly to the board. Imagine my frustration while troubleshooting these issues - I thought it would be a software issue because I am a beginner there, but in reality it was multiple hardware issues! Although I have no problems with the final product now that I have everything fixed and put together, it is worth noting that the PCBs that Markus puts together with the build fee likely do not come with a careful, basic function testing when they arrive at your doorstep. Additionally, if you are not prepared to fix these problems yourself and/or return shipping is prohibitively time consuming or expensive, it's probably not worth the trouble. I wrote to Markus for help with the LEDs not working on one side, thinking the issue was software, but he did not ever respond. It would have been nice to know the issue could have been hardware.

The keyboard itself is great, with a well designed PCB, adding OLED screen and encoder to the lily58. However the build experience was marred by the poor documentation. At time of review, the build guide and documentation provided is for a different version of the PCB, making it difficult for the inexperienced keyboard builder to follow along. When I asked for help on a bit that is different, the seller replied referencing a statement in the build guide that it only applies to certain versions, however he did not provide any further assistance in helping with my query. Furthermore, I couldn't find any functional firmware, meaning I had to modify the lily58 in order to get a functional keyboard. Most of the LEDs needed are the SK mini-e (the ones with wings) whereas when I purchased using the git-hub parts list I ordered the sk mini (without wings) so this was another problem with documentation. If you are experienced with building keyboards and soldering, get it. Otherwise it's probably not worth the frustration.

Great keyboard relatively easy to assemble and love the design. Individual key LEDS are difficult to solder on, as they are SMD, my standard soldering iron tip was too big so it kept melting the LED package. I ended up not using any LEDs since you need all the per key leds to gain access to the undermount.

Shipping took a while, but it was coming from Sweden so I guess that was to be expected.

The documentation could use some improvement though still a work in progress

Markus was awesome with answering any questions I had.
