I needed a quality power supply for my custom built nixie clock because i bought 3 different cheaper chinese HV psu's but all of them were emitting an irritating buzz so i decided to buy this one as i have very good ears. I can say it's really a quality product, clean pcb without flux residue, perfect soldering and quality components so all we could wish for. It is mounted on the back side of my nixie clock in a closed transparent case and the pcb and all components are just lukewarm. And the most important thing: it is absolutely silent :) Highly recommend this psu to nixie enthusiasts who wants to make a quality nixie clock!
I chose this power supply for my nixie tubes, because i wanted something solid, that didn't damage the tubes. The board itself is really well designed and didn't show any manufacturing problems. It also shows good output characteristics with a constant power supply. All in all the electronics on this board are totally worth the money. The shipping from Singapore to Germany was also quite fast, from what I know about shipping from Asia. I'm really happy that I found such a good power supply for a decent price.
Ordered this, and got it (in the UK, from Singapore) just a few days later, even with a nice postcard in it. Top quality item (which is what I wanted as I'm using it to build a wedding present for friends), beautifully made and ready to use. Couldn't ask for more than this, puts my faith back in small independent sellers.
I really like this power supply. From the compact, project friendly board layout, to the quality components and reliable output; it really is an elegant piece of hardware.
I spent a considerable amount of time looking at options to power my nixie projects. From various do-it-yourself layouts, to basic kits, and the relatively inexpensive boost converters, none of them seemed to fit what I was hoping for.
I wanted a modular supply that I could drop into an Arduino based project. I wanted it to be reliable and robust so I didn't have to worry about it, apart from the normal precautions of dealing with high voltage. Finally, I wanted it to look clean and elegant regardless of whether I ended up having the internals on display or not.
Thankfully, I came across this supply, which stood out if not only for it's red PCB, but also using a flyback transformer. I also read the blog and back story for its creation from prototype to production. I highly recommend reading this if you are looking at nixie power supply options.
So to sum up; in my mind the product is excellent both in engineering and aesthetics. I know there are less expensive options out there, but for me the small extra amount was definitely worth it. This is the supply I would want to build if I was going to do it myself.
I have tested it at a variety of input voltages (within spec) and it has been rock solid.
Shipping to Australia arrived in the time frames expected and the product was very well packed.
Documentation between the blog and the outlines on the product page is excellent, although to use there is not much to worry about other than handling correctly.
