The design is awesome, a small PCB built into the USB connector. Brilliant and functional. I got the unit assembled with the 20 LED array. Bright and colorful.
It's based on the open source DigiSpark which I also love. I will be at home making custom code.
Really this is a great innovative product, I'm impressed to say the least.
A significant negative is that it's not actually a USB controlled light.
I was hoping to write a PC app to control the LED colors using USB. The USB is done with "bit banging" and the LED chips requires accurate timing control to program so it may not be possible to have USB interfacing for control and have the timing accuracy to program the LED modules. I plan to try though.
I do use the DigiSpark with a product I'm developing where I keep USB interfacing while doing other things with the chip.

Wow thank you! you are the first person to review this and i am so glad you like it :) i just uploded a new design to thingiverse that looks VERY nice as a desktop lamp
check it out.
also there is a littlewire .hex file in the github repo. once you upload this you can control all the leds directly from your computer over usb and use the usblinky as a status notification gadget..
all the best -florian
