Dean's work on this project is impressive. His knowledge of the architecture is really deep, and this project is the only easily reproducible to obtain a compatible MSX2 + machine with new components. In addition to the modular Hw components also the sw / sdk part on github deserves a careful study, integrating modules and components of the msx ecosystem resulting from different developments (eg nextor). Last but not least, in my experience, Dean's availability in case of issues has been excellent.

The Yellow MSX Series of Boards is very recommendable.
I am really enjoying the MSX modules for RC2014. The idea is very good and the kits are very well conceived. Also the quality of the materials is excellent. I decided to buy the different modules after reading about the project on Hackaday. I don't have a long experience in informatics or soldering but thanks to the entries on Hackaday and the clarifications on Github I have been able to build and set the MSX up and running. I have also tested each module in RC2014 and compiled programs and animations. For me, tinkering with the MSX Boards is being very rewarding.
Overall quality of the kit is truly amazing. PCB is well done with high-quality soldering mask and easily readable/understandable silk screen -- and all discrete components were subscribed with its nominals, so, you even don't have to have any measuring equipment to sold the board correctly!
While it's questionable if all chips should be placed to sockets -- personally me have sold only 9958 socket, all other chips were sold into PCB directly -- it's better to have something than not to have, let's any electronic hobbyist can be comfortable with his/her habits.
Undeniably, MSX was a well-conceived concept of the, now retro, microcomputer era. The MSX evolution brought about agreement by a number of manufactures to build typically Z80 processor-based machines to a common specification, allowing interoperation through hardware and exchangeable software.
The V9958 MSX Video board for RC2014 is a seriously good attempt to enable MSX compatibility through the RC2014 platform. The producer of this (and other MSX for RC2014 boards) has designed a high-quality board, along with ‘test’ software that will run on a RC2014 running CP/M 2.2.
Build is very straightforward: component labeling on the board makes it so and, in my case (after a brief re-sitting of the VDP in its socket) worked. Test/demo software available (GitHub download) provided does a random ‘dots’ display, there is ‘lines’ which draws variable length, varying colour, horizontal lines and a Mandelbrot set demo (that’s actually quite slow but good for a soak-test!) Source code is available for these routines that could be the inspiration for CP/M 2.2-based graphical software.
All-in-all, this is worthwhile product for those that are interested in (re-)exploring MSX software.
Die Bestellte Tastatur so wie das Zubehör wurden am Tag der Bestellung sofort versendet. Trotz der Pandemie wurde die Lieferung wirklich sehr scnell um die ganze Welt versendet.! Das paket wurde von der Post direkt geliefert eine gesonderte Abfertigung mit dem Zoll war nicht notwendig.
Leider hatte ich noch keine Zeit den Bausatz zusammen zu Löten, allerdings sie die gelieferen Platienen von bester Quallität ebenso die Schalter und Bauteile. Ich würde jeder Zeit wieder bei diesem Versender bestellen. :-)

Carefully prepared DIY kit which is easy to complete!
Today, I received my MSX video board. From ordering until delivery in Germany, it took little more than 2 weeks.
Even though I am still struggling with the RC2014 to complete and cannot yet test the functionality, I immediately started to solder the board.
I have to say, it is one of the best prepared kit that I got hands on. All values are printed on the PCB - no need to check online documentation to find out about the parts placement. Except for the NTSC/PAL differences. And even these are marked on the PCB, so you will not solder the wrong part by accident. Another very welcome detail is that the value of all parts is noted on the resistors and capacitors. Of course, you can always check the color code but this way it is much easier. And even the single/double row parts of the connector were already prepared - no chance to do anything the wrong way.
I soldered the PCB in about one hour. And I can't wait to get my RC2014 to work and continue to make it MSX compatible. It's really a great kit and I will definitely order other components, when available!
