Zeal 8-bit Touch Sensor Board

Experience the convenience of powering your projects on or off with just a touch of your finger. This touch sensor module is designed to integrate seamlessly with your projects.

The board is equipped with a TPS22917 load switch that supports voltages up to 5.5V and is capable of outputting a maximum continuous current of 2A, making it very versatile for all your MCU-based and retro projects!

The touch sensor can be interfaced to other boards thanks to the 3-pin SH 1.0mm connector. A cable breaking out these 3 pin into 3 standard 2.54mm connectors is provided in the package.

What is included?

• A pre-assembled and tested touch sensor PCB, which size is 15.25mm x 13.00mm (0.6"x0.51")
• A 3-pin SH1.0 cable, providing access to the three signals (see below) thanks to three standard 2.54mm female connectors.

How does it work?

The touch sensor works the same way as a standard power switch, but instead of pressing a button, you simply touch the bottom surface of the PCB. By default, the sensitivity is set to around 1cm, which makes it possible to install the touch sensor behind a thin surface (case) and still be able to trigger it with a touch.

How to connect it?

Once the 3-pin cable is connected to the connector, the three cables have the following roles:

• Red: Power output, must be connected to the load of your circuit
• Black: Power input, must be comprised between 2V and 5.5V. Providing any voltage above 5.5V will permanently damage the components.
• Yellow: GND, must be connected to the ground of your circuit

When the touch sensor is activated, the power output will see its voltage rise to the voltage provided at the input.

Can the sensitivity be switched?

The sensitivity can be configured via the following capacitor:

The capacitor provided is a (0805) 18pF one:

• If you want to reduce the sensitivity, install a bigger capacitor
• If you want to increase the sensitivity, install a smaller one or completely remove it
