What is it?

This is the Z80-MBC3 kit computer, assembled and tested. For those who want to use it out of the box and skip the DIY assembly. The Z80-MBC3 is a Multi Boot Computer that can run CP/M (2.2 and 3), QP/M, BASIC, Forth, Turbo and UCSD Pascal, and Collapse OS with the identical SD card image that was published for its predecessor, the Z80-MBC2.

It connects to the USB port of a computer that runs a terminal emulator such as PuTTY, TeraTerm or the like.

The Z80-MBC3 is a redesign published in 2021 with the objective to reduce the number of components in the previous (Z80-MBC2) design. By making use of a more recent ATmega4809 as the boot-, terminal- and I/O controller, which replaces the older ATmega32A, the crystal, and most of the glue logic, the hardware design was simplified. An extra analogue input and beeper are now on board, and the Z80 can be clocked at 10 MHz, a 25% speed increase.

What makes it special?

It has onboard I/O and can run faster. It is extensible with external I2C peripherals.
