This is the BARE BOARD for our "RJ45/DB9 breakout board" design.
It offers a convenient break-out of the 8 signals on a standard RJ45 connector, or the 9 signals on a male or female DB9 connector (plus the metal-shell connection, which is also brought out to a 10th screw-terminal).
You simply populate this board with your choice of components:
DB9-Male or DB9-Female: Standard right-angle mount, (0.318" setback on mounting holes). ...OR... RJ45, plastic, right-angle. We recommend AMP P/N 215877-1 (also available on Digikey as P/N A105009CT-ND).
Phoenix-style 3.5mm pitch screw-terminal block:
8-pin block: Use with RJ45 connector. 9-pin block: Use with DB9-M/F, if you DO NOT NEED a screw-terminal for chassis-ground (D-connector shell). 10-pin block: Use with DB9-M/F, if you DO NEED a screw-terminal for chassis-ground (D-connector shell).
Refer to schematic for placement of terminal-block (depends on size), and connections to the respective DB9/RJ45 pins.
Panel-mount angle brackets: We recommend Keystone Electronics (www.keyelco.com) P/N 7790 (also available on Digikey as P/N 36-7790-ND).
This is a metric M3-0.5 threaded bracket. You will obviously need 2 matching M3 screws to mount the board to a panel.
Notes for using this as a "RJ45 breakout":
If you already have a DB9 connector-hole in your project, then only a little nibbling/filing is necessary, and you will be able to line up the mounting brackets to the existing DB9 holes in the panel.
