What is it? This is an assembled PCB as shown. It offers a convenient break-out of the 8 signals on a standard RJ45 connector.
There are also panel-mount brackets on this board. They have the same hole-spacing (25mm/0.984") as a standard DB9 connector. If you have a DB9 opening but need an RJ45 connector, simply nibble/file away a bit at the top & bottom of the DB9 opening, and this board will fit very nicely. You will need two metric "M3-0.5" screws for these mounting brackets.
Why did we make this? We build many unusual & custom industrial control systems. This RJ45 breakout board was something we needed for a new system, and just couldn't find anywhere.
What makes this board special? As noted, this PCB assembly can fit into a slightly modified DB9 opening. The Phoenix-style screw-terminals are 3.5mm pitch. The board comes with the wire-to-board terminal block, but certainly we can build this up with a pluggable terminal strip instead. Let us know what you need!
ALSO... the same PCB board is available BLANK (see our Tindie store), so you can build it with a male or female DB9 (instead of the RJ45), thus creating a "DB9 breakout board". You can also choose to have a 9-pin or 10-pin screw-terminal block.
The datasheet ZIP file contains the schematic, modified-DB9 cutout information, and 3D-models for use with your own CAD software.
Stay tuned to "uptoolate", we have many other "industrial" boards & product enclosures coming - perfect for that pro/hobby CNC project!

We recognize our top users by making them a Tindarian. Tindarians have access to secret & unreleased features.
We look for the most active & best members of the Tindie community, and invite them to join. There isn't a selection process or form to fill out. The only way to become a Tindarian is by being a nice & active member of the Tindie community!
After 30yrs+ of embedded & industrial-control design, we're finally thinking - "Hey - maybe all these little widgets we make might be useful to someone else?!"
To that end, we're just starting to make some products available to the public.
Could you design these products yourself?... absolutely, you could! However, it's the convenience of "ready to use" that really makes a get-it-done project happen, and quickly. If we could have found them online - we would have purchased them too - rather than design our own.
If you have any custom requirements... we're open to considering all ideas.
