The Strikelink WiFi modem designed by Alwyz. He gave me the permission to build some of these. It connects to the Userport of a Commodore Home-Computer (PET, VIC-20, C64, ...) and bring your old hardware online. You can call many BBSs with it. It is time, to bring the feeling back, as we were kids.
I´ve got the permission from the origin designer of the PCB to use it for my build. The main reason for building this stuff is to bring new life in the old hardware. You have so much possibilities with this cheap Addon.
Well, you can surf in the net with your old C64! That make it really special, I would say!
The modem draws a little amount of current. If you have a newly built power supply this should be no problem. With the old original power supply I would recommend to power the modem externally with a power supply. A simple phone charger with a Micro-USB connector will do the trick. But if you want to power externally, you have to cut trace to the ESP Vin pin. Otherwise your C64 could get be get damaged. (I would replace the old power supply in any case. It is a time bomb for your C64! ;))
